Forest School
Forest School at Mill Lane encourages independent, enthusiastic, resilient and creative learners who will develop holistically through a well-planned child initiated approach to learning.
We are very lucky to have such wonderful school grounds here at Mill Lane. The outdoor area consists of 5 natural areas; Gruffland, the field, the hedgerow, the wildflower meadow and the woodland area. Its diverse flora and fauna adds to the natural classroom and supports a Forest School programme.
Forest School is a holistic approach to development and covers all aspects of children’s learning.
Some of the activities the children may experience are:
- Den building
- Cooking on a campfire
- Natural artwork
- Using tools
- Making charcoal
- Flora and fauna identification
- Exploring the natural environment
