Learning with older children
A warm welcome to Windmill Community Nursery, the nursery class at Mill Lane Community Primary School.
Windmill Nursery provides quality pre-school education for children aged 3-5 in Chinnor and surrounding areas and feeds all local primary schools. Children start in the term following his/her 3rd birthday.
The Nursery is open Monday - Friday, 8.45am - 2.45pm, and offers both the universal 15 hours entitlement, and the extended 30 hours. Additional sessions up to 30 hours are available (£15/session) and a nutritious hot lunch (£2.40) can be ordered daily from our school kitchen.
Windmill Nursery classroom and staff
Our well-resourced Nursery classroom is bright and airy and has a spacious garden, sandpit and large undercover area. Wide folding doors link the classroom with the Reception class giving many opportunities to join together for activities. This helps ensure a happy and smooth transition for Nursery children to Mill Lane Primary School. Windmill Nursery is staffed by a dedicated and caring team, including a qualified early years teacher, nursery nurse and teaching assistant who all have many years’ experience in quality pre-school education.
Learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Windmill Nursery
Every child deserves the best start in life to enable them to fulfill their potential. Staff at Windmill Nursery recognise that every child is unique, and that all children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates. Our carefully planned curriculum follows the children's interests and needs, enriched with local visits, visitors from the community and cooking in the Nursery kitchen. The children regularly join older school children to explore the ‘Gruffland’ nature area, share stories, celebrate festivals and take part in investigation weeks. Windmill Nursery is very much part of Mill Lane Primary School and the local community.
On Tuesdays 9am-11am, a lively Toddler Group for the community is held at Mill Lane School during term time (£1.50). It is a great way to get to know the School and to meet other parents, carers, staff and children. Everyone is very welcome. (Unfortunately, CLOSED until further notice)
