"Mill Lane is not only a great school it also teaches it's pupils to be caring members of the community. The dedication of the teachers is amazing, from giving up their time to take the children to young voices at the O2 to putting on fitness classes after school being just a couple of examples." A Year 5 Parent
"We have been at Mill Lane School for 4 years now and are so please with the choice we made. We have 2 children, one in year 3 & one in Reception Class.
Every teacher my daughter has had has been amazing & has paid attention to her needs & helped her grow in confidence. Currently she is with Miss McDougall, whom we are so happy with, our daughter has progressed amazingly this year, we cannot praise Miss McDougall enough.
Our son is with Mrs Gordon and her wonderful team. My son is the youngest in the year, late August baby, I had no expectations, as I thought he would take a while to take to school and understand what it was all about, but under Mrs Gordons amazing care he is already reading & writing. He loves going to school every day, which I think is to be credited with how enjoyable Mrs Gordon and her team make learning.
All these teachers do an amazing job on their own but also it is due to the wonderful leadership of our Headmistress who knows all the children by name and spends time with the children getting involved, greeting them every morning and being someone the children respect and look up to. Mill Lane is a very nurturing school, where every child is treated as a valuable and unique individual. The sense of community and team spirit is palpable and it makes the school feel like one big, happy family. Our three children all look forward to going to school – the staff provide so many wonderful opportunities and there is always something fun and exciting going on. They enjoy their learning and are developing self-confidence and interpersonal skills, while making great educational progress too. I can’t recommend Mill Lane highly enough. The trip to the O2 for Young Voices is a highlight of the year. The opportunity for the children to be part of a choir of almost 8,000 really is a chance of a lifetime. We can't wait for next year!! Year 4 parent
As adoptive parents, Mill Lane School has offered both our child and us fantastic support. They have always worked with us to offer our child additional support when it has been needed and they have always offered us an open door policy if we have needed advice or support. Parent of a Year 5 child
Mill Lane has a fantastic community feel and as parents we are always invited to take an active part in our child's learning. The school offers the children fantastic opportunities that we are able to join in with and the recent trip to the O2 with the school choir to watch them perform with nearly 8,000 children from different schools was amazing. What a privilege to be involved with the excellent Chinese New Year celebrations for the Nursery, Reception Class and Jack & Jill Pre-School. The early years environment was vibrant with fantastic hands on activities - from monkey masks and chinese flags, to playing with rice and noodles. It was moving to see around 70 young children sing 'Kung Hei Fat Choi' together and the dragon dance was delightful - Superb! Parent of a Reception child
Very impressed with the Year 4 Family Assembly on the theme of 'Robots'. Incorporating science, literature, art, dance and music. The assembly was dynamic, informative and entertaining. As a musician, I particularly liked the original composition and the enthusiastic cornet playing! It was obvious that the children were very proud of their work - and so they should be! Well done.
