Learning at Home

At Mill Lane, we believe that home learning plays an important part in a child’s education and we know that children derive great pleasure and benefit when working on tasks at home.

All children are expected to complete homework tasks out of school and these are listed in more detail in our Homework Policy. In addition to set tasks, children should also regularly practice the following skills:

  • Reading to an adult (This could be a school book, own book or a Bug Club online book.)
  • Learning target letters, sounds or spellings (Children are provided with these regularly)
  • Practicing the multiplication tables (Children from Years 1 to 6 all have counting or tables targets)

We understand that children work very hard during the school day and, with this in mind, we have provided a range of activities with thousands of exciting and valuable learning activities and games to play, which children can use at home, at their own pace.
