PSHE and RSE at Mill Lane
PSHE at Mill Lane
At Mill Lane, we believe that Personal, Social, Health, and Economic (PSHE) education is essential in promoting our children's wellbeing, and for equipping them to thrive in an ever-changing world. Through our PSHE curriculum, we aim to help pupils build a strong understanding of themselves, cultivate respect for others, and develop the skills they need to form and maintain positive relationships. By nurturing self-awareness, empathy, and resilience, we try to empower the students to navigate their emotions, set personal goals, and make meaningful connections with others.
Starting in January, we are introducing a new PSHE curriculum. This new curriculum focuses on neuroscience, and teaching the children how their brains work, as a way of helping them to understand themselves, and others. In this curriculum, there are 5 main topics - Meet Your Brain, Celebrate, Appreciate, Relate, and Engage.
To further embed this learning, there is an app for parents and carers, with lots of helpful resources. These can be used to allow you as a parent to understand what your child is learning, and it also has lots of activities for you to do together at home and there is also a Kids Zone featuring games and much more! We really encourage you to make use of this free content so that you can support your child in getting the best out of the curriculum.
To access these materials just go to https://myhappymind.org/parent-resources to create your free account. You will need to enter your name, email, and authentication code (your child's class teacher will be able to give you our school's authentication code).
