Mill Lane Community Primary School News

We are extremely proud of everything we offer at Mill Lane, from the fantastic environmental area to the spacious classrooms and the creative curriculum we teach. However, nothing gives us greater pleasure than watching our children perform whether it is in sport or in the Arts. As usual, it was a pleasure to see the enthusiasm with which our children performed at the O2 along with 8,000 other children. The children had been rehearsing every week and had learnt all the songs and dance moves. It is a great opportunity for the children to perform at such an amazing arena and one they will always remember. Music and dance have also played a strong part in the weekly class family assemblies. Year 4 participate in weekly cornet lessons and they performed several songs to show us what they have learnt so far. The Year 3 children performed a Rainforest dance that they had created, and the Year 6 children sang a song about winter that they had composed themselves. This month, we will be holding our Spring concert where our instrumentalist will have the opportunity to perform to their parents and we will also be trying our hand at Bollywood dancing. It certainly is a busy time at Mill Lane.

The Windmill Community Nursery News

Windmill Nursery have been engineers! One afternoon, we joined Year 3 to design a small world adventure park. The children’s designs were amazing. We had swings, seasaws, roundabouts, zip wires and even a climbing wall. Sid and Harvey helped Ashleigh to create a very long water slide (complete with safety rails!) It was lovely to see the older children sharing ideas with the Nursery children and helping them fix tricky bits together. The afternoon was a great success and we look forward to lots more times together.

Another highlight was our annual Chinese New Year celebration with our Reception class and Jack and Jill. The morning was filled with lots of activities– dragon dancing, singing, mask making, collage, blossom painting and tasting Chinese food. We wish you all a Happy Year of the Pig!
