Week 4 - w/c 25th January 2021

Hello Class 1,

I can’t believe that we are nearly at the end of January and going into week 4 of home learning. I really miss having you in class! You have been working so hard at home and I am very proud of you all. I thoroughly enjoy seeing all the things that you are sending in, keep up the great work!

I have really enjoyed our online lessons throughout the week, I hope you have too.

Below you will find the Home Learning for Week 4. As always if you have any questions please let me know.

Very best wishes,

Mrs Palmer

Phonics/Spelling

This week we are learning the sounds: ph, ew and au. These are alternative spellings for sounds we already know. This week try the Phonics Play Flash Card games for Phase 3 & 5a. The spellings on Spelling Frame match the phonics sounds we are learning this week, rules 21 and 28.

Literacy

We have planned another week of literacy based around a great short film, Heinz Beanz, A can for every Aussie! The focus this week is to use time words in our writing. There is a PowerPoint to run through for Monday’s task which explains the words we will be using. If you need any help, please let me know.

Maths

We are continuing with Place Value up to 20 this week. The questions on each worksheet get progressively harder, so don’t worry if they need some help. If your child needs support to complete any questions, please can you write a little “S” next to the question to indicate support given.

Reading

Please continue to read on Bug Club and use the bookmark to ask questions. I have also included a short reading comprehension activity to be worked on over two days. If you r child needs support reading the text or questions, please help them sound out. You may want to read and discuss the text one day and return to the questions the next.

Handwriting

This week I have written out some funny questions to trace and copy. Can you answer Yes or No to the question?

Afternoons

Please continue with the topic menu and let me know if you need any resources to help at home.
