Welcome to the Year 6 Home Learning Resource Page
*Updated for after February Half Term*
Hi Year 6 Children & Parents!
We have now completed 6 weeks of home learning and I couldn't be more proud of the mature and responsible approach you are taking towards your learning. Year 6 staff are very proud of your efforts and can't wait to welcome you back to school - hopefully very soon but we will keep our fingers crossed!
Every week, you will find a new timetable of activities and all the resources that you will need to complete your home learning on this page of the website. We have started at week 1 again for after February Half Term to help you keep track.
Government guidelines state that Primary aged children should complete 3 hours of home learning per day in a range of subjects across the curriculum.
Please feel free to do the activities from each day in any order but try to complete the morning activities on their set day, otherwise you will get behind. Class learning calls are scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays. On Friday, there will be a chance for you to share an area of your learning from the week that you are proud of. Please continue to e-mail any completed work to the class e-mail so that I can keep a register of who has completed their learning. Children who are in school (children of key workers) will be completing the same activities on the same days so it is important that everyone completes each set of activities as some may follow on from the previous session.
Children should have log-in details for the following sites :PurpleMash, Education City, Bug Club, Spelling Frame. If your child needs a log-in reminder, please e-mail me. Links to these sites and other useful websites can be found in the 'Home Learning' tab of the school website, under 'Useful Websites'.
Please log-on to Bug Club at least twice each week and complete some reading from your set books on there. As you read, the bug icons will provide comprehension questions which you must answer.
If you have any questions, please e-mail me at: class6@mill-lane.oxon.sch.uk
Good luck with your home learning and I can't wait to see what you have been up to in our catch-up sessions. Stay safe and look after each other :)
Mrs Carey
Well done for a whole 6 weeks of home learning Year 6. You have done a fantastic job and the skills you will have developed for independent learning and resilience are so important.
Below is the 'well-being menu' which you can choose to use over half term. The focus is on having a break from screens over half term so all the activities can be completed without technology!
Keep filling buckets and have a great half term!

BOOK WEEK
Thursday 4th March: World Book Day
Year 6 will be off-timetable for World Book Day. Instead, please complete activities from the KS2 Book Week Menu which is above in the Week 2 Resources. During Book day, there will be a Teams meeting with chance to share any of your learning, costume & we will also have a book themed quiz.
On Wednesday, a link and password will be sent out for a video theater performance of 'Treasure Island'. There will be an activity to go alongside this too. The video is pre-recorded so it can be watched at a time of your convenience.
Sponsored Ready Steady Read and Virtual Book Fair:
To encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we will be running a school sponsored read and a Virtual Book Fair between Monday 1st and Sunday 7th March. This is being organised in conjunction with our local Usborne Representative, Lisa Colley, and all the money raised will go towards brand new books for our school. In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne will donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. So if we raise £600, we will get an extra £360 in FREE Usborne books! There will also be a competition running – the child who reads for the most amount of minutes will win a book of their choice!
Please see the Sponsorship Form & the links below for more detail:
