Year 6

Welcome to Class 6
Welcome to the Summer Term and what a busy term it is going to be. Our topic this term is the Titanic. The children will learn why the Titanic is so significant in British history and in the final term, will learn all about costal erosion and the affect extreme weather has on our planet!

Sports Week 10th-14th July

The children worked incredibly hard for their SATs and all should be really proud of themselves! On the Friday, they celebrated their final test for the year with a party and a massive water fight!
Cadbury's World

On Wednesday 17th May, we had our final trip of the year (and school) to Cadbury's World where we learned about the history of chocolate. The children got to experience how to make chocolate as well as having plenty of opportunities to taste it too!

A fantastic time was had by all!
Bugsy Malone Performance
The auditions are now complete and we have a brilliant casting for our performance. Please see the cast list and the links to the songs you need to learn.

Homework

IXL Maths - 30 -40Minutes a week. Go to the practice page and complete your recommend skills.

Please practice your times tables regularly as this will help you understand new mathematical concepts we are learning. You need to be able to instantly recall any multiplication fact up to 12 x 12.
Good websites to use are Hit the Button, Dyslexia Gold (times table tutor), Education City and Purple Mash.

Reading

Please read regularly and remember to get your parents to sign your reading diary at least once a week so that you can earn reading reward points.

Complete at least 90 minutes of reading on Reading Plus (Some of this will be completed in class)
This should equate to 3 reading lessons and 2 vocabulary lessons. Remember to use your re-read buttons. You have 5 re-reads in a text; the more you use them, the more likely you are at hitting 80% or more.
