Year 4

Welcome to Class 4
This has been a good week for Class 4! We've started venturing into our new maths topic of addition and subtraction, and in literacy have been learning all about the Blitz, with lots of activities to show off this new knowledge. In art we started to paint 'Blitz silhouette' pictures, and in science we have been making puppet theatre shows, which have been very enjoyable.
Swimming update
If your child has been doing swimming, you should have had an email from me to update you on the swimming situation. We previously were under the impression that our swimming block would last until half term, however we have been informed that last Tuesday (12th October) was the final day that the pool is open for this year. Because of this, we will resume with normal PE from next Tuesday (19th October). I apologise for any inconvenience!
15th October - 21st October 2021

I have set literacy activities on Education City, which focus on informative text pieces, while also assessing reading comprehension. If you have any issues with logging in, please email me and I should be able to help.

Please try and read for at least 10- 15 minutes every day. Reading includes Bug Club, newspapers, comics and magazines as well as a bedtime story. We hope to have reading diaries that you can take home soon where we would encourage parents to regularly use as this helps us know what you have enjoyed reading and also gives you points towards your reading awards, such as Olympic readers. All students need to bring in their reading records to be checked on a Monday.

Times Tables

Keep practising your times tables by playing 'Hit the Button' or by playing the games on Purple Mash and Education City.
Our spellings for the next 2 weeks have been uploaded to Spelling Frame. This time, we are focusing on homophones and near homophones.
Topic - next due 21st October

Choose one activity from the activity menu each fortnight and bring it to school by the Thursday. Activities should take approximately 30 minutes (15 minutes each week). Some activities may take longer.  The following week fortnight you must choose an activity from a different section. All the activities are related to our WW2 topic.  You have the choice to present your work in whichever way you prefer. This could be a poster, model, drawing, a PowerPoint or however you choose! Be creative! Please email any electronic work to the class email address.
