Hello Class 1,
I am so excited that we are nearly all back in school! I hope that you are all looking forward to returning on 8th March!
Here is an outline of what we will be doing this week.
This week I have changed the times for our Wednesday calls to the afternoon. They will be between either 1-2pm or 2-3pm. We will discuss returning to school and our literacy unit. If you have a preference of time slot, please email me.
We will also be having a whole class call on Thursday morning between 9-9.30am to celebrate World Book Day.
This week you will be recapping the graphemes /ai/ and /ay/. Please practise these spellings on Spelling Frame (rules 1 and 4) and then take the spelling test on Wednesday morning.
We are continuing last week's discussion titled "Should animals be kept in zoos?". On Tuesday you will be thinking about a new discussion point.
You will be able to share your discussion and conclusion during our Teams call on Wednesday.
We will carry on learning about numbers up to 50. You will need to remember how to use the greater than/less than symbols...the crocodile mouth < or >.
We are celebrating World Book Day (4th March) through lots of fun and exciting activities all week long! You will use your afternoons to choose activities from the Book Week Menu. You can do as many as you like - make sure to share what you do by emailing me or posting on Purple Mash.
You will have received an email through ParentMail with details about our sponsored read "Ready, Steady, Read". Every time you read please record this on your sponsorship form so that we can raise lots of money to buy new books for our school! I have attached a copy of the sponsor form below. There is a prize for the child who reads for the most minutes - a book of their choice!
On Thursday afternoon we have a fun and engaging, live performance of a specially adapted version of Romeo and Juliet aimed at primary age children. The show consists of abridged scenes from the play, combined with lively narration and fascinating facts about Shakespeare. This production will be live at 1.45pm on 4th March, however if you are unable to watch it live, do not worry, as you will have access to the link for 7 days after. During the live performance, you will have an opportunity to ask the actors questions and interact throughout the whole performance. Details to be sent out early next week.
