Early Years Education for 3-5 year olds
A warm welcome to Windmill Community Nursery.
We are the Nursery class at Mill Lane Community Primary School for pre-school children age 3-5 years old in Chinnor and the surrounding area. The Nursery feeds all local primary schools.
We are currently open Monday - Thursday, 8.45am - 2.45pm. From September 2017 we will also be open on a Friday at the same time.
Children receive funding for 15 hours per week. We offer additional sessions (£12) as well as a nutritious, hot lunch (£1.50) from our school kitchen.
All About Us
Our well-resourced classroom is bright and airy and has a spacious garden, sandpit and large undercover area. Wide folding doors link our classroom with the Reception class, giving us lots of opportunities to share experiences together. This helps to ensure a happy and smooth transition for Nursery children when starting primary school.
Windmill Nursery is staffed by a dedicated and caring team of a qualified early years teacher, nursery nurse, music specialist and early years teaching assistant who all have many years' experience in quality pre-school education.
Learning at Windmill Nursery
To be an effective learner, children are encouraged to:
- play and explore by finding out and ‘having a go’.
- actively learn by becoming involved and concentrating, persevering and enjoying their achievements.
- create and think critically by developing their own ideas and strategies.
Children’s learning is developed through a balance of play and adult guided activities. Carefully planned activities based on the EYFS ‘7 Areas of Learning’ offer a rich variety of experiences and challenges that reflect the childrens’ interests and needs. Partnership and communication with parents and carers is strongly valued. Staff wish both children and adults to feel happy at Nursery and are keen to discuss progress or any thoughts or concerns (however small they may seem).
The Windmill Toddlers is a fun group for all ages and is held in the Nursery on Fridays 9am - 11am, during term time. It's a great way to get to know the classroom and meet other parents and children. It only costs £1.50 and the children can experience a Nursery environment and try a range of activities. The Toddler Group is supervised by a member of staff.
